CRACK SEAL

Crack Seal

Asphalt pavement is a large investment and can last for decades if it’s well maintained. Asphalt crack sealing is an extremely economical and effective way to protect your original investment. The formation of cracks is due to many factors such as thermal stress, fatigue, and reflective cracking from the underlying pavement. When cracks appear, water and moisture enter the asphalt and penetrate the subgrade. Over time, more cracks will form, and potholes will begin to appear. If left untreated, these issues will eventually create a large enough problem that your asphalt will need to be removed and replaced.

Crack sealing is the process of sealing cracks that are larger than one quarter of an inch utilizing hot rubberized asphalt sealant. Weems Asphalt only uses quality crack sealants that are engineered to withstand the extreme temperatures of our desert climate. It is vital to begin a crack sealing program at the first sign of cracks developing in your pavement, which is anywhere from 2 – 5 years after initial asphalt installation.
